Ingredients

  • 1 bunch of mint (pudina) leaves Or 2 cups leaves
  • ½ lime juice
  • 6 tbsp grated jaggery Or sugar
  • 1 tbsp fennel seed powder (saunf)
  • 1 tbsp cumin seed powder (jeera)
  • a pinch of asofoetida (hing)
  • 1 tbsp chat masala
  • a pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Firstly separate mint leaves from stem. Wash them nicely keep aside.
  2. Combine all ingredients into a processor jar. Grind into processor until all blends well.
  3. Take a mesh strainer strain the mixture. Discard the leftover pulp.
  4. Now serve into glasses with some ice-cubes. Garnish with slices of lime.

Tips:

  • Adjust sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter sherbet, increase the sugar or sugar syrup. If you like it more tangy, increase the lemon juice.
  • Make ahead: You can prepare the mint syrup and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week. When serving, just add water and ice.
  • Spice it up: To give the sherbet a more complex flavor, you can add a pinch of ginger powder or even a few crushed cardamom pods while blending the mint leaves.
