Aam Panna Recipe | What is the Recipe of Aam Panna
Ingredients
- 2 large raw (and unripe) mangoes
- 4 glasses water
- 1 cup crushed ice
- 1/2 cup sugar or as per your taste
- kala namak
- 1.5 teaspoons lightly roasted cumin seeds
- 1 cup packed fresh mint leaves
Instructions
-
Pressure cook the mangoes for 1-2 whistles or for 5-8 minutes.
-
Peel the skin and remove the flesh/pulp from the mango.
-
Combine rock salt, sugar, roasted cumin, chili pepper and mint leaves in a processor till they are powdery and smooth. Add the mango pulp to this and blend/process/puree it till smooth.
-
Add about 6-8 tablespoons to a glass of chilled water. Stir well and serve chilled with ice and garnish with more fresh mint.
Tips:
- Adjust Sweetness and Spice: You can adjust the sweetness and spice level according to your taste. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can add more sugar or jaggery. For a spicier drink, increase the amount of cumin powder or black pepper.
- Roasting vs. Boiling: Roasting the mangoes gives a deeper, smoky flavor, while boiling the mangoes results in a cleaner, tangier taste.
- Storage: If you have extra mango pulp, you can store it in the fridge for up to 2-3 days and prepare fresh Aam Panna whenever you want.
- Vegan Version: If you prefer a vegan version, you can use jaggery instead of sugar or sweeten it with any other natural sweetener.
Variations:
- Aam Panna with Mint: Adding fresh mint leaves to the drink can elevate the flavor and make it even more refreshing.
- Spicy Aam Panna: For a more spicy version, add a pinch of red chili powder or chopped green chilies.
- Aam Panna Shots: You can serve the Aam Panna in smaller quantities as shots, especially when serving at parties.
Health Benefits:
- Cooling: Aam Panna is a natural coolant, helping to lower body temperature during the hot summer months.
- Rich in Vitamin C: Raw mangoes are rich in vitamin C, which helps boost immunity and prevent dehydration.
- Digestive Aid: The spices, especially cumin and black salt, help in digestion and provide relief from bloating and acidity.
Aam Panna is a classic summer drink that is not only tasty and refreshing but also packed with health benefits. Whether you’re serving it at a party or just relaxing at home, it’s a perfect way to stay cool and hydrated.
