Ingredients

  • 1 cup Phalse
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Black salt
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Wash phalse and place them in a sieve and let the excess water drain out.
  2. In a blender add phalsa, sugar and 1/2 cup water and whisk for a while.

  3. Now add 2 cup more of cold water and whisk for half a minute.  Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl.

  4. Pour out phalsa juice in a glass and serve. You can even add some ice cubes to it and serve chilled.

Variations:

  • Rose Water: Add a few drops of rose water for an aromatic twist.
  • Salted Version: For a savory version, increase the black salt and skip the sugar. You can also add cumin powder for extra flavor.
  • Sweetener Options: Instead of sugar, you can use honey or jaggery as a sweetener for a more natural option.

Health Benefits:

  • Phalsa: These berries are rich in antioxidants, vitamins C and A, and have cooling properties that are perfect for the summer heat. They are also believed to aid in digestion and help reduce inflammation.
  • Lemon Juice: High in vitamin C, it helps boost immunity and adds a tangy kick to the drink.
  • Black Salt: Known for its digestive properties, black salt adds a unique flavor while also helping with hydration.

Tips:

  • Chill the Sharbat: If you prefer, you can chill the sharbat in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving for an even cooler drink.
  • Strain for Smooth Texture: Straining the phalsa juice is optional but recommended if you prefer a smooth drink without pulp or seeds.
  • Adjust the Sweetness: You can adjust the sweetness based on the ripeness of the phalsa berries. Riper berries will naturally be sweeter, so you may need less sugar.

Phalse Ka Sharbat is a delicious, traditional Indian drink that is perfect for cooling down on a hot day. It’s refreshing, healthy, and easy to make with minimal ingredients. Enjoy the natural goodness of phalsa in this delightful beverage!
