Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 2 Cloves
  • 2 Star Anise
  • 1/4 inch Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp Ginger grated or minced
  • 1/2 cup Onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Red chili flakes
  • Carrots finely chopped & boiled
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder
  • 1/4 cup Orange juice
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 cup Boiled Rice or leftover

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a medium sized pan. Once it's hot, add cloves, cinnamon and star anise. Stir for half a minute.

  2. Add ginger and stir fry for a few seconds. Add onion and stir fry for a couple of minutes.
  3. Now add red chili flakes, carrots, salt and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Add orange juice in the pan and mix well. Add honey and let it sit for another minute till it reduces to half.
  5. Now add boiled rice and mix well. Serve hot or pack in the tiffin.

  • Candied Orange Peel: You can find candied orange peel in specialty stores or online, or you can make your own by boiling orange peel in sugar syrup. Just chop it finely before adding it to the rice.
